Two actions in the district court for Hennepin county, consolidated for trial and heard together on appeal, one on behalf of Edwin Frank Novotny, a minor, by Antonia Novotny, his mother and natural guardian, against Raymond Bouley and others as the Bouley Rural Telephone Company, W. R. Stephens, John Novotny, and W.R. Stephens Company, to recover for injuries sustained by plaintiff, a farm hand in the employ of W. R. Stephens, claimed to be the result of defendants' negligence; and the other action by the mother to recover for consequential damages. The cases were tried before Levi M. Hall, Judge, and a jury, and verdicts of $20,000 and $2,500 respectively were returned for the minor and for his mother. Defendants Raymond Bouley and his associates constituting the telephone company appealed from an order denying their motion for a new trial as to both cases. Defendants W. R. Stephens and W.R. Stephens Company appealed from separate orders denying their respective motions for judgment notwithstanding the verdict or a new trial in each case. AUTHOR: MAGNEY
